ARTICLE 13
Summer Sessions
Section A. Workload.
A full-time summer session workload shall consist of no more than six
(6) credit hours.
Section B. Duty Days.
A summer session shall consist of twenty-five (25) consecutive duty days,
including days when registration, classes, holidays, and examinations
are scheduled. Classes need not be scheduled on all duty days.
Section C. Salaries.
A faculty member accepting a summer session teaching assignment shall
receive two and one-quarter percent (2.25%) of his/her nine- (9) month
base salary for the preceding academic year per credit hour, but not less
than the minimum adjunct rate for the preceding academic year as set forth
in Article 11.
Section D. Assignment.
Procedures for assigning positions shall be reviewed and determined annually
at a meet and confer session with the Association. Within each department
all faculty, except the department chair, shall have equal access to summer
teaching assignments, based on requirements of the curriculum and qualification
of the instructor. Equal access shall not override curriculum determinations
or qualifications of faculty to teach the courses offered.
Section E. Overload.
Faculty members who perform teaching assignments in excess of a full-time
workload during summer sessions shall receive overload pay as described
in Article 12.
