Background Checks

Summary: Pre-employment background checks can include several components.  Which are applicable depends upon the position.  Components include:

  • Verifying actual employment by contacting previous employers
  • Verifying education by reviewing a certified transcript
  • Checking references by contacting previous supervisors and others who have reasonable knowledge of the candidate's work performance, reliability, integrity or other attributes that relate to the job
  • Checking for related criminal convictions for those jobs which require such checks
