Short-term Disability Insurance
Short-term disability coverage provides eligible employees with income for up to 180 days when an injury, sickness, or pregnancy results in continuous total disability. You may apply for coverage which can replace up to 2/3 of your monthly salary to a maximum of $5,000 per month. Short term disability coverage is not applicable to absences due to an approved workers' compensation claim. Refer to your union contract
or salary plan
for specific information. You may apply any time after 35 days of employment by providing evidence of good health.

Long-term Disability Insurance
Long-term disability coverage provides eligible employees with income when an injury, sickness, or pregnancy results in continuous total disability beyond 180 days. This insurance can replace some of your salary to a maximum of $5,000 per month. This coverage is integrated with other sources of disability income. You may apply for long-term disability coverage as a new employee or during the state's annual open enrollment. Refer to your union contract or salary plan or contact the Human Resources office for specific information.
