Job Classifications
The State of Minnesota Department of Employee Relations (DOER) uses a system of job classifications similar to other employers. The classification of jobs is determined by either Minnesota State Colleges & Universities or DOER, depending on the position. The classification (e.g., Office Specialist) determines the union contract governing the position and the wage range assigned. Specific information about job classifications is contained in your union contract or salary plan.
Faculty positions are not assigned to specific job classifications. The starting wages and wage progressions are regulated by the Office of the Chancellor procedures and the MSCF, MSUAASF, and IFO union contracts.
