The State of Minnesota Department of Employee Relations (DOER) uses a system of job classifications similar to other employers. The classification of jobs is determined by either Minnesota State Colleges & Universities or DOER, depending on the position. Faculty positions are not assigned to specific job classifications. The starting wages and wage progressions are regulated by the Office of the Chancellor procedures and the MSCF, MSUAASF, and IFO union contracts.
