The Labor Relations department represents the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities in administering a comprehensive employee relations program throughout the system. The primary activities include:
- Development of employee relations policies
- Negotiation of collective bargaining agreements
- Day to day contract administration
- Labor-Management partnerships
- Representing management in grievance arbitration procedures
- Training of managers and supervisors
- Coordinating meet and confer sessions, and
Labor Relations works closely with the Minnesota Management & Budget (MMB) Labor Relations on union issues for the system’s classified employees.
NEW!The Labor Relations team will begin one-day training sessions in July.
The morning sessions are Labor Relations in Higher Education. During this interactive course, participants will learn labor relations concepts and contract interpretation techniques. Also, they will gain an understanding of basic disciplinary and grievance handling, such as issuing discipline and dealing with union advocates.
During the afternoon sessions, participants will choose between training of either the 2013-2015 MSCF contract or a joint session on the IFO contract and the 2013-2015 MSUAASF contract.
The schedule below has choices of four training dates in July, at four different locations. To register, please log into STARS with your STAR ID and password to register. You will receive a confirmation via e-mail.
Don't delay! All the sessions are coming up soon, and space is limited at each location. Lunch will be provided to those attending both the morning and afternoon sessions on the same day.
