The Negotiations Process
Labor negotiations between the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities occur biannually. The parties exchange proposals addressing desired changes in terms and conditions of employment. The negotiations continue until mutual agreement between the parties and may include mediation by the Bureau of Mediation Services. Negotioations address the terms and conditions of employment of the faculty and staff who deliver those services on a day to day basis at the 32 institutions that comprise the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities.
The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities shall strive to meet the goals of:
- Attracting and retaining highly qualified faculty and staff
- Becoming more flexible in the delivery of education due to the changing population and methods of instruction
- Insuring that we address contractual roadblocks to the efficient and professional delivery of services
This Labor Relations website will provide information on the status of labor negotiations as well as the system’s position on key issues.
