AACC Future Leaders Institute

Brief Description: |
An innovative five-day leadership seminar designed for mid-level community college administrators who are actively considering or moving toward becoming a president. These individuals are currently in a position that is responsible for multiple employees, including faculty, administrators, and/or staff and probably have titles such as vice president, dean, associate dean, or director. Applicants must be nominated by their president. |

AACC Future Leaders Insitute Advanced: Pathway to the Presidency
|
Brief Description: |
An intensive, five-day institute designed for senior-level administrators on the direct path to a presidency. Participants will network with experienced CEOs, industry experts, and their own senior level peers. The program covers topics such as; Board & CEO Relations, Crisis Management & Medial Relatons, Fundraising & Foundations, Advocacy & Politics, and Interview Techniques & Preparation. This program is open to individuals who hold a position of Vice President or higher, those who have completed Future Leaders Institute, or those who anticipate moving into a presidency within the next two or three years. Applicants must be recommended by their president. |

ACE Fellows Program

Brief Description: |
Started in 1965 to help individuals gain expertise and perspective to assume significant leadership roles in higher education. Fellows spend an academic year in mentor/intern relationship with an experienced college or university president. This intensive experience combines observation with active participation in all aspects of administration. Candidates are nominated by the chief academic officers of their institutions and are interviewed and selected by ACE. Nominees must have a minimum of five years experience as college-level faculty members or administrators and must have a record of leadership accomplishments. |

The three required ACE Fellows Seminars are conducted in August, January, and June. Candidates must send the completed nomination form and application materials to ACE each year by November 1. |

Fees: |
Program costs vary, depending on the placement option selected. However, one stipulations applies to all placements: the nominating institution pays the Fellow's salary and benefits for the fellowship year and covers all interview and placement process expenses. Bush Fellowship

Brief Description: |
The Bush Leadership Fellows Program seeks accomplished, motivated individuals who are eager to prepare themselves for greater leadership responsibilities within their communities and professions. Applicants are invited to propose academic or self-designed learning experiences that will help them attain goals that they set for themselves. The program encourages applications that will expand fellows’ experiences beyond the familiar to learning environments that might be inaccessible without a fellowship. Fellowships are for full-time study in academic programs (degree granting or non-degree granting), for self-designed study programs and for combinations of academic and self-designed programs. |

The deadline for applications to be received or postmarked is mid-October of each year with the Foundation announcing Bush Leadership fellows in April or May of the following year. Specific deadline dates are announced in August. Fellowships may last from two to 18 months in length. |

Fees: |
The fellowship program includes a monthly stipend, as well as reimbursement for travel expenses. The program also pays for 50 percent of the first $8,000 in instructional expenses, plus 80 percent of expenses after $8,000 up to a maximum amount. |

Collaboration for the Advancement of College Teaching & Learning Summer Institute

Brief Description: |
An intensive, residential program, the institute provides a carefully designed system of interactive plenary session, individualized consulting, and team meeting time, enabling each group to complete a realistic and compelling project plan in less than a week. |

Community College Leadership Development Initiatives (CCLDI) Leadership Academy

Brief Description: |
Unique development program for leadership teams from an institution, which may include presidents, faculty, senior administrators, and classified staff. Academy seminars help to expand the capacity for teamwork as a component of doing “good work” in community colleges. The program offers interactive sessions for current and emerging leaders to: assess leadership styles and skills, explore issues of institutional change and systems thinking; articulate personal and organizational ethics and values. The program seeks to enhance the development of strategic leadership at all levels. |

Harvard Seminar for New Presidents

Brief Description: |
This Seminar provides new, first-time presidents with a practical and conceptual orientation to the presidency. It familiarizes new presidents with the opportunities and hazards they will likely face, and prepares them to respond to the multiple responsibilities and constituencies of their new office. |

Harvard University Institute for the Management of Lifelong Education (MLE)
|
Brief Description: |
MLE is designed for campus leaders - typically presidents, vice presidents, deans, and directors - who are serving new groups of learners, forging new partnerships, and delivering education in new formats. The program helps increase your capacity to lead and manage change, develop and implement effective strategy, realign faculty and financial resources, and evaluate the impact of new initiatives. |

Harvard University Management Development Program (MDP)
|
Brief Description: |
Designed to enhance skills and perspectives of middle managers of colleges and universities so that they increase their ability to make positive contributions toward institutional effectiveness. MDP focuses on key topics that successful administrators must master: leadership, diversity and community, financial management, human resource management, legal issues, development, institutional values and integrity, strategic mentoring, fostering innovation and change and professional renewal. |

Harvard University Institute for Educational Management (IEM)

Brief Description: |
IEM is designed for senior administrators in higher education. This three-week residential program examines critical issues in the management of colleges and universities from the perspective of leaders whose responsibility and authority shape institutional policy. The program will address the following critical issues: leading in a changing context, balancing internal and external leadership roles, working effectively as a member of the senior management team, fostering and supporting organizational change, articulating a powerful institutional vision and enlisting others in pursuit of that vision. |

HERS Management Institute for Women in Higher Education Administration

Brief Description: |
This program is scheduled over five weekends throughout the academic year. Typically the programs occur during one weekend in each of the months of October, November, January, March, and April. This provides an opportunity for those who are not able to devote an entire month during the summer to such a program to spread out their participation over five weekends. This institute offers an integrated program for women administrators and faculty in areas of planning and fiscal management, managing organizations, and professional development. |

HERS Summer Institute for Women in Higher Education Administration

This month-long residential program on the Bryn Mawr college campus offers women faculty and administrators intensive training in educational administration. The Executive Leadership Institute (ELI) is designed to give future CEOs a solid foundation for understanding and addressing key issues in 21st century community college leadership.
